During this interactive book club exclusively for REI co-op members, we are going to discuss Meredith’s journey through Italy, Austria, Switzerland, and France while on the hunt for the best regional cuisine. Just in time for this winter, get inspiration for your own mountain adventures fueled with hearty meals like: radicchio and speck dumplings, fondue brioche, the best schnitzel recipe, Bombardinos, warming soups, wine cave fonduta, a Chartreuse soufflé, and a host of decadent strudels and confections.
“Alpine Cooking” is a beautiful book organized by country and includes logistical tips, detailed maps, the alpine address book, and narrative interludes discussing alpine art and wine, the Tour de France, high-altitude railways, grand European hotels, and other essential topics. This gorgeous and spectacularly photographed cookbook is a romantic ode to life in the mountains for food lovers, travelers, skiers, hikers, and anyone who feels the pull of the peaks.
We will be raffling 10 signed copies of the book prior to the event. Don’t miss your chance to listen to and interact with Meredith! To access the event, we'll email a Zoom link the day prior to all registrants.
Born in Windsor, Ontario, Meredith met the co authors of her first book while working as a waitress in Montreal in the early 2000’s. Her first book, The Art of Living According to Joe Beef, catapulted her to the spotlight in 2011. Since then Meredith has continued to share her passion for cooking, travel, and writing by continuing to find new approaches to the standard cookbook with a focus on creating a book with longevity. “Alpine Cooking” is her first solo book and finds a place both in your kitchen and on your coffee table.
